Based on the French produced SIMCA 180, the Australian version offered the choice of the French 4-cylinder or Australian 6-cylinder engines. The car was unique in having Australian designed front and rear panels which increased the overall length allowing sufficient under bonnet room for a 6-cylinder motor. |

CENTURA "GL" The top line luxury model and was available with a choice of three engines, an overhead cam two litre four cylinder, a 3.5-litre 215ci and the powerful 4.0-litre 245ci 6-cylinder engines. The 4-cylinder was mated to the French-built gearboxes while the 6-cylinder engines had the Australian made Borg-Warner gearboxes. It was well equipped by anybody's standards, having as standard a radio, a tachometer, a vinyl roof, reclining bucket seats with cloth inserts, fake wood trim on dash, doors and console rear seat armrest etc. |

SIMCA 1200S CENTURA "XL" The basic car in a two model range, it also came with the same choice of three engines. As the Australian produced Centura was 85% locally sourced we were left with a few disappointments of it's specifications, the biggest was the deletion of the French four wheel disc brake system because of Chryslers desire to use local parts where possible. |
